Swift Current Museum
The Swift Current Museum's main collection consists of natural history specimens and cultural objects that reflect past and contemporary life and culture in Swift Current and area. Natural history specimens include fauna, flora, fossils, and mineral specimens. Cultural materials include those of aboriginal origin, household objects, photographs, paper-based materials, items pertaining to local businesses, schools, military, sports groups, fraternal organizations, and other sectors of urban and rural community life. In addition to the regular Museum collection, an archives collects documents pertaining to individuals, institutions, businesses, and community organizations in the city and region.
Located just off the Trans-Canada Highway in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada, the Swift Current Museum is operated by the City of Swift Current. Since 1937, the Museum has collected artefacts and produced exhibits and programming to preserve and promote the history of Swift Current and the surrounding region. The Museum shares a building with the Swift Current Tourism Visitor Centre and is open year-round. The Museum houses a permanent gallery as well as a temporary gallery for short term exhibits. Visitors can search the collections upon request for research and reproduction purposes.
