It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "V" (movable typeface). The relief is dark burgundy and the carved down portion is a mate dark red. The carving marks/dents evident on the carved down portion. The back is discoloured with dirt/grime and marked with faded black, brown and red ink.
