It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "C" (movable typeface). The relief is glossy/smooth as the original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigment has naturally darkened with time and use. The relief is dark brown and black. The carved down portion is dark blue and the carving marks are evident. The back appears to have been part of another bigger block. The word "THE" backwards is evident and the symbol ";" and a larger letter "D". The negative space/ relief surface is dark Burgundy and dark brown.
