It is a rectangular block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "O" or the number zero (movable typeface). The relief is burgundy and auburn. The pattern of the wood grain is still evident. The carved down portion is a dull dark red and black. The old accession number is also written on the bottom edge in permanent marker. The back appears to be varnished and stained. Top and bottom portions are marked with brown and red pigment. There are two large patches of black pigment that resemble brush strokes.
