It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "L" backwards (movable typeface). The original coat of varnish is still evident on the relief surface and the pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The grain of the wood is still evident in some areas. The relief is Burgundy and carved down portion is matte Burgundy and dark blue. Four nail mark holes on the bottom edge. The old accession number is also written in permanent marker on the bottom edge. The back is varnished and discoloured. Marked with red, black and brown pigment. ~root~>
