It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "H" (movable typeface). The original coat of varnish is still evident on the relief and the pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The grain of the wood is evident in some areas. The relief is dark red and the caved down portion is dark brown/auburn. The old accession number is also written in permanent marker on the bottom edge. The back is varnished and discoloured. Marked with red, brown and black pigment.
