It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "K" (movable typeface). The original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigments have darkened with time and use. The relief surface is a dark umber and the pattern of the wood grain is still evident. Carving marks are evident on the carved down portion and it is a combination of dark blue and red pigment creating a purple tone. The old accession number is also written in permanent marker on the bottom edge. The back is yellow as it is varnished and discoloured with age and dirt. Also marked with red, black and green pigment. ~root~>
