Block, Wood

Artifact

2018.1.42
King, Andrew
1912 – 1958
It is a rectangular (almost square)block of wood with a carved relief of the number "4". The relief surface is stained with dark orange and red ink. The relief surface appears to be buffed or polished. There is a faint zig zag vertical line (like the one on 2018.1.33b). The carved area if stained burgundy. There was no old accession number on this block in any form. There is a tongue of wood on the left side that could quite possibly fit the groove on 2018.1.33b. The back is heavy marked/ stained with red and black ink with strokes of teal/dark blue ink.
