Brown Rock Core
Artefact
1996.x.122
Brown rock core with a smooth, rounded bottom while the top is uneven and comes to a point in the center.
Cores are considered the "parent" rock used to create stone tools. The uneven texture is the result from the stone being worked at in order to break off flakes, which then later are constructed into the desirable tool. The smooth bottom provides insight into what the rock looked like in its original state before being chipped away at. ~root~>
