Army puttee, which intended to be wrapped around the leg from ankle to knee for protection. It is made of a long, thin piece of knit material. One end is pointed and sewn to a long, narrower strap.
The puttee was owned by Lt. Col. William Van Allen of the 16/22nd Saskatchewan Horse, and 14th Canadian Light Horse / Hussars.~root~>
