Uniform pants, specifically jodhpurs or riding breeches. The pants have wide hips, and then tapers at the knee to be tight around the calves. There are suede patches on the inner side of each leg where the garment would rub against the sides of the horse. They fasten with buttons, and have several buttons around the waist to attach suspenders as well. The legs holes can also be tightened with laces.
The pants were owned by Lt. Col. William Van Allen of the 16/22nd Saskatchewan Horse, and 14th Canadian Light Horse / Hussars.
