The image is of a military camp on a countryside. It was taken during the siege of Part Arthur in February 1904, the beginning of the Russo-Japanese War.
The caption reads "Part of Japan's Third Army besieging Port Arthur" and "Copyright 1905 by American Stereoscope Co." is written underneath.
