400 bp
Red projectile point. The base is straight and broken off on one end. The point also has small side notches, and slightly outwardly curved edges up to the tip. The shoulders, which sit above the notches, are pointed almost like little spikes. The uniquely shaped shoulders make it difficult to identify, but it does seem the most like a type of arrowhead, based on its shape and size. The bow and arrow became popular in the Late Period, which took place around 2,000 to 300 years before present (BP). This particular arrowhead most closely resembles Plains Side-Notched points from 450 to 250 years before present. It may also be what archaeologists refer to as a "miniature", which includes points of incredibly small size for children to learn how to hunt, or for hunting very small game.
