Miniature Projectile Point (300 bp)
Artifact
2007.16.23
300 bp
Red projectile point. The point has a straight base, side notches, and straight edges up to the tip.
Given its shape and size, this point is likely an arrowhead. The bow and arrow became popular in the Late Period, which took place around 2,000 to 300 years before present (BP). This particular arrowhead most closely resembles Plains Side-Notched points from 450 to 250 years before present. It may also be what archaeologists refer to as a "miniature", which includes points of incredibly small size for children to learn how to hunt, or for hunting very small game.~root~>
