Arrowhead Projectile Point (300 bp)
Artefact
2007.16.2b
300 bp
Projectile point made of brown chalcedony. The edges are slightly curved up to the tip, and there are small grooves around the edges. The base is slightly convex and there are no notches on the side.
This point seems to be an arrowhead based on its shape and size. The bow and arrow became popular in the Late Period, which took place around 2,000 to 300 years before present (BP). This particular arrowhead most closely resembles Plains Triangular points from 450 to 250 years before present (BP). They are characterized by their lack of notches and are possible preforms that would later be formed with notches as needed.~root~>
