Arrowhead Projectile Point (2000bp)
Artefact
2007.16.1s
2000 bp
Black projectile point. The point has a flat base, which is smaller that the rest of the point. It also has deep side notches, and a slight curve on the edges up to the tip.
It is possible that this point is a Pelican Lake point from the Middle Period, which took place around 7,500 to 2,000 years before present (BP). It has the characteristic deep notches, but lacks the sharp corners or shoulders. The smaller varieties of Pelican Lake points are said to possibly be indicative of bow and arrow technology despite being common during the age of the atlatl. This particular point also bears some resemblance to Prairie Side-Notched points from the Late Period, which took place from 2,000 to 300 years before present (BP). ~root~>
