Portrait of George Akister from WWI, lived c.1890 - 1916, taken at White Bear in 1916. He was killed in action in France after September 7, 1916, a date on which he wrote a letter to his niece Gladys. Colour and detail has been painted onto the photo. In a gold, ornate oval frame, convex glass.
He came to Saskatchewan in 1908 with his brothers. George Akister is the uncle of Gladys Akister. Gladys' father, John, was the eldest son of James and Jane Akister, George was the youngest.~root~>
