(d) - Grey stone base for carvings. Flat and shallow on one half, and raised and bumpy on the other. 3 holes for dowels to be inserted on top.
From grey soapstone sculpture of walrus and bird. Bird would be dowelled to base and the walrus is dowelled laying flat on the base. There is a hole for a missing figure.~root~>
Pegging carvings to a base can be a method to stabilize the objects and have them be more of a tabletop display. Having removable elements pegged to a base, such as with the carving, can be intentional to allow the carvings to be movable for storytelling.~root~>
