Medal, silver-toned medal on a blue, red and green striped ribbon, one side bears the Canadian crest and the Latin motto "A Mari Usque Ad Mare" (from sea to sea), the other side bears an image of men and women marching in military uniforms and the text "Voluntary Service Volontaire // 1939 Canada 1945".
This was granted to any rank of Canadian armed forces members who volunteered for active service from 3 September 1939 to 1 March 1947. The medal was created on 22 October 1943.~root~>
