Notes on event At 15.47 hours on 11 Oct 1942 the Waterton (Master William Lutjens) in convoy BS-31 was hit by two torpedoes from U-106 and sank by the stern north of Cape Breton Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The master, 24 crew members and two gunners were picked up by HMCS Vison (T/Lt W.E. Nicholson, RCNR) and landed at Sydney.
