It is a square block of wood with a hand carved relief of the letter "D" (movable typeface). The relief is smooth/glossy as the original coat of varnish is still evident and the pigment has naturally darker with time and use. The relief surface is a combination of dark blue and dark brown. The carved down portion is dark blue and the carving marks are evident. The back is brown/Burgundy with patches of dark blue pigment. 1.3x20.8cm vertical line carving on the back. Materials
