It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the letter "Y" (movable typeface). The original coat of crash is still evident on the relief surface and is burgundy. The pattern of the wood grain is also still evident. The carved down portion is matte burgundy. The pigment has naturally darkened with age and use. The old accession number is also written in permanent marker. The back is varnished and discoloured. Marked with black, burgundy and red pigment.
