It is a rectangular block of wood with a carved relief of the number "9" backwards. The relief surface appears to be buffed or varnished and carved by machine due to the lack of errors and overall consistency. The relief is stained dull brown/orange colour with black scratches and carved down portion is black and red. The back is patchily stained with black ink and has raised, curved vertical lines across the surface.
