It is a rectangular wood block with a carved relief of the letter "E". The relief is stained with deep burgundy ink and the non-relief surface is stained with red and black ink. The surface of the relief appears to be polished or buffed. Sections of the grain and colour of the wood is also evident on the relief surface. There are also drops of bright red and green ink. The back is stained with a deep teal ink with smudges of red ink. There are also remnants of glued on pieces of paper (pink and white). The back side must have been part of another block at some point, however, the letters are unreadable. The old accession number is on the bottom edge on a sticker.
