It is a rectangular wood block with a carved relief of the number "8". The surface is stained with dark burgundy ink. The surface of the relief appeals to be buffed or polished. On sections of the relief the grain and colour of the wood is evident as if buffed or worn off. The accession number is written on the bottom edge in permanent marker and on a sticker. On the back the edges/sides are stained with red and black ink. There are ansi drops, smudges, strokes and horizontal faded black lines of ink.
