*Picture Block* Rectangular tongue and groove wood (gradient?) block. Front: Stained a combo of green and red-- most recessed using a linear tool with one raised section of a maple leaf. Maple leaf measures at max width 31.5cm and max length 38cm. Starting in the bottom center, is the stem 0.8cm wide by 3.4cm long, there are seven main points of the leaf: 3 pairs with 1 top point. Bottom two points measure 17cm wide by 4cm long approximately, second pair measures 31.5cm wide by 12.5cm long, third pair 21cm wide by 8cm long and top point 9.5cm wide by 13.5cm long (to point/top edge). Leaf has been stained green down the center of the leaf and red towards the outer edges and very center line of the leaf, however the red may not be original as this block was used in non-traditional printing exercise. Minor etched line following leaves to provide definition. Linear grooves immediately surround the leaf in diagonal lines. There is residual paint stains of (blue and red) from non-traditional use. Sides: Residual traditional and non-traditional stains--both smudges on and in wood grain. Back:Almost appears to be splatter painted from spots/smudges of traditional and non-traditional paint/ink colours. (Particularly along outer edges)--Ink stains in the wood grain.
