*Picture/Text Block* Rectangular block, possibly tongue and groove joined wood wuth an attached zinc plate. Front: appears to be a combo stain of blue on the zinc plate and wood to a reddish-brown colour. Block is mostly recessed (zinc cut away completely in most of the botttom 2/3). Beginning at the top, 2.1cm from the top edge and 2.3cm from the right edge, are the words "HAND'S FIREWORKS" written backwards approximately 2cm long by 27cm wide, (recessed). Below the text, also recessed, are 2 exploding firework etchings: 1. (8.5cm from the top and 1.3cm from the left) 11.5cm wide by 12.5cm long 2.(6cm from the top and 3.2cm from the right) 13.5cm wide by 11.5cm long--fireworks slightly resemble the top of a palm tree. The next section occupies an area of complete recession (down to wood) 21.8cm long by 29.2cm wide, with one connected relief design. This design depicts 2 lines heading up to the top firework explosions, denoting a flight patter, each about 18cm long. In between these 2 lines (approximately 20cm apart) is a large cloud from an explosion presumable (11.5cm at the widest point by 17.5cm long). Below the lines and cloud is the etching of a village approximately 4.5cm long by 32.5cm wide. The final section is a completely recessed section 28.5cm wide by 6.8cm long with a 1.5cm border, surrounding the bottom, and up both left and right sides to the top 1/3 relief section. Both the area uder/between the top fireworks and the cloud have horizontal linear grooves. Blue stain is more concentrated at the top 1/3 relief section. Sides: ink stains in wood grain as well as residual red and blue stain near the front of the block. Back: 5 horizontal cuts have been made, beginning on the left side: -1. 17.9cm from the top left corner is 11.8cm long -2. 20.1cm from the top left corner is 52.6cm long creating a 0.4cm gap throughout the entire block land causing it to be unstable or wobbly. -3. 24.5cm from the top left corner is 9.5cm long -4 27.1cm from the top left corner is 52.6cm long -5. 29.7cm from the top left corner is 16.3cm long *cuts seen on the right side of block (sides described when looking at the front)* Two wavy clips inserted (parallel 18cm apart) across 4th cut, presumably to fuse 2 boards together (?). More ink stains in the grain.
