Artifact

3900 bp
Light grey projectile point, possibly made of chert. The point has a concave base, wide side notches, and edges slightly curved outward up to the tip. Given the size and shape, this is likely an atlatl dart point. Atlatls or spearthrowers were used to hunt smaller game, and were popular during the Middle Period, 7500 to 2000 years before present (BP). In terms of specifics, this is possibly a Hanna point from 3,900 to 3,500 years before present, or a Sonota point from 1,500 to 1,350 years before present (BP).
