Atlatl Projectile Point (1500 bp)
Artifact
2007.16.1q
1500 bp
White and translucent projectile point. The point has a straight base, wide side notches, and a slight curve on the edges up to the tip.
This particular point is possibly an atlatl point rather than a spearpoint or arrowhead. Atlatls or spearthrowers were used to hunt smaller game, and were popular during the Middle Period 7,500 to 2,000 years before present (BP). The specific shape of the point resembles that of Sonota points from about 1,500 to 1,350 years before present (BP). ~root~>
