Artifact

1999.30.7
Canadian army jacket, hip-length perhaps worn during WWI, General Service brass buttons contain the text "Canada" as well as the phrase "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (shame upon him who thinks evil of it), two "Canada" metal shoulder titles, two lapel pins that read "43 Camerons [ Highlanders] Canada" and bear a crown and a maple leaf, three wounded bars on left cuff. Owned by John Hill, 1896 - 1962, from Govan Saskatchewan. Two objects, which appear to be handmade garters with two red ribbons on each, were found in front pocket.
